AC Records Sample Tape — Ten Tracks, One Reel

The appeal of a sampler is discovery. AC Records’ ten-track reel moves from jazz standards and piano-led performances to “Arioso” and two selections associated with Art Farmer in Wrocław. It offers a concise tour of the label’s range, with familiar titles such as “Alone Together” sitting beside the playful “Twenty Pickles.”

The accompanying technical sheet gives this edition a particularly tangible identity. It specifies quarter-inch RTM LPR90 tape running at 38.1 cm/s (15 ips), with recordings dated from 2018 to 2024. According to the sheet, Piotr Łukaszewski edited and mastered the program in 2026; it lists Abbey Road Studios, London, as the mastering location. It also identifies a Studer A807 mkII playback machine and a Telefunken M15A recording machine in the duplication section.

Those details are part of the pleasure of a physical tape release: the reel arrives with a documented production history and a clear instruction to rewind it before playback because it is packed tail out. The selection itself invites an unhurried listen, moving across styles while keeping jazz at its centre.

Played and recorded with John Abercrombie, Garry Bartz, Eddie Henderson, Larry Goldings, and John Scofield – to name just a few. Active live performer playing in all the best concert halls of the World with musicians like Nigel Kennedy, Robert Plant czy Eric Clapton.
