AudioNautes Recordings
Collector’s LPs Reference |
|
Original Sources: The label emphasises working directly from the original master sources, avoiding previously remastered versions to capture the exact sound the engineer heard during the initial recording session. Meticulous Production: AudioNautes collaborates with world-class sound engineers and uses premium pressing plants and materials (like Pallas Group or Optimal for vinyl). Detailed Documentation: Each release often includes extensive liner notes and technical sheets detailing the original recording equipment and the mastering process for the reissue, which is a key selling point for enthusiasts. Limited Editions: Most releases are limited and individually numbered, catering to collectors and connoisseurs. |

IMPORTANT PROVENANCE GUIDE FOR COLLECTORS
✅ VERIFIED AAA
Nat King Cole — Penthouse Serenade — AN-2519
AudioNautes Recordings explicitly states: sourced from a copy of the original master tapes with a full analogue AAA process.
Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio — Plays Songs — AN-2703
AudioNautes Recordings explicitly states: original ½-inch master tapes — AAA.
✅ VERIFIED ORIGINAL ANALOGUE MASTER SOURCE
Carl Orff — Carmina Burana — AN-2512
AudioNautes Recordings explicitly states it was remastered from the original analogue master tapes. The product does not explicitly label the complete mastering chain “AAA”, so this catalogue keeps those two claims distinct.
❌ NOT AAA — DIGITAL MASTER
Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio — Blues for K — AN 2407
Premium 45-rpm, 1-Step vinyl does not automatically mean AAA.
The All Star Percussion Ensemble — AN 2510
Source identified as an original digital master; therefore the vinyl cannot be correctly described as AAA.
Antonio Vivaldi — Le Quattro Stagioni — AN 2406
The associated original recording/master lineage is digital; the 1-Step LP should therefore not be presented as AAA.
|
COLLECTOR RATING SCALE
★★★★★ REFERENCE — landmark pressing, exceptional provenance/specification and major collector importance
★★★★★ — outstanding audiophile/collector release
★★★★½ — highly recommended premium edition
★★★★ — strong collector release, usually with less technical documentation or conventional production
★★★½ and below — would indicate notable compromises; none of the current curated AudioNautes vinyl releases falls below four stars in this catalogue
THE SOUND OF TAPE VERDICT
AudioNautes Recordings occupies an unusual position among modern audiophile labels because its catalogue combines historic analogue recordings, contemporary analogue recordings, digital masters, 33⅓-rpm editions, elaborate 45-rpm 1-Step sets and extremely limited collector editions.
The most important rule is therefore:
1-STEP DOES NOT MEAN AAA.
45 RPM DOES NOT MEAN AAA.
180/200 g VINYL DOES NOT MEAN AAA.
Only the actual recording → mastering → cutting provenance determines whether a record can legitimately be described as AAA.
For that reason, The Sound of Tape A–Z Database only uses “AAA” when the evidence supports it. Where AudioNautes has not published a specification, it is marked “Not Published” rather than guessed.
AudioNautes Recordings are dedicated to working exclusively with original master sources - whether analog master reel tapes, or DATs - ensuring the highest fidelity music sound at your home HiFi audio system.
