Armenian Radio, specifically the Public Radio of Armenia, is indeed preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026, marking a century of broadcasting excellence. The first experimental program, "Voice of Yerevan," was transmitted on September 1, 1926. The legendary Armenian composers and singers, alongside original paintings by Martiros Saryan.
"Armenian Radio - 100 Years of Excellence" refers to the centennial celebration of Public Radio of Armenia, which was established in 1926. The organisation is one of Armenia's largest broadcasters and has played a significant role in preserving Armenian culture and history through its extensive sound archives.
The public radio's archives include a vast collection of Armenian folk music and historical recordings, with four dedicated orchestras. It has also been noted for its role in preserving minority cultures, such as the Kurdish culture, by broadcasting in the Kurdish language since 1955.
The user may also be referring to the general excellence of Armenian contributions to radio and technology. For instance, 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU), an event being celebrated by amateur radio operators worldwide, including those of Armenian descent.
