Four Seasons in Jazz: Live at Bernie’s brings together Canadian pianist and vocalist Anne Bisson with bassist Jean-Bertrand Carbou and drummer/percussionist Pierre Tanguay for an intimate journey through the changing colours of the seasons.
Recorded over two days at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, the performances travelled through a completely analogue signal path directly to the cutting lathe. With no multitrack safety net and no opportunity for later editing, every note, breath and musical interaction had to be captured in the moment.
Legendary recording engineer Michael C. Ross engineered and mixed the sessions, while Bernie Grundman personally supervised the transfer to disc. According to the official release information, this was only the third direct-to-disc recording created at Bernie Grundman Mastering.
The result is an exceptionally immediate listening experience: Anne’s voice and piano emerge with natural presence, the acoustic bass carries convincing depth and body, and the percussion retains its speed, texture and dynamic character. It is the kind of recording that allows a carefully resolved audio system to reveal the atmosphere of the performance -not merely the notes being played.

The recording received the 2017 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest Award for Best Audiophile Analogue Recording - a fitting recognition for a project that celebrates musical spontaneity and uncompromising analogue production.
