Glenn Gould - The Goldberg Variation

Glenn Herbert Gould was a Canadian classical pianist. Widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of all time, he was renowned as an interpreter of the keyboard works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Glenn Herbert Gould (September 25, 1932–October 4, 1982) was a Canadian pianist who became one of the best-known & most celebrated classical pianists of the 1900's. He is renowned as an interpreter of the keyboard music of Johann Sebastian Bach. His playing was distinguished by remarkable technical proficiency and capacity to articulate the polyphonic texture of Bach's music. He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.

After his adolescence, Gould rejected most of the standard Romantic piano literature including Liszt, Schumann, and Chopin. Although his recordings were dominated by Bach, Gould's repertoire was diverse, including works by Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Brahms, pre-Baroque composers such as Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Orlando Gibbons & William Byrd, and such 20th-century composers as Paul Hindemith, Arnold Schoenberg & Richard Strauss. Gould was known for various eccentricities, from his unorthodox musical interpretations and mannerisms at the keyboard to aspects of his lifestyle and personal behavior. He stopped giving concerts at 31 to concentrate on studio recording and other projects.

Gould was also a writer, broadcaster, conductor, and composer. He was a prolific contributor to music journals, where he discussed music theory and outlined his musical philosophy. As a broadcaster, Gould performed on television and radio, and produced 3 radio documentaries called the Solitude Trilogy, about isolated areas of Canada.

The One-Step Features and Method:

The master lacquer is cut directly from the final analogue (or high-resolution digital) master.
A single metal stamper is created directly from the lacquer.
That stamper is used immediately to press records.
That’s it- just one step between the music and your turntable.

By bypassing the Father and Mother stages, the 1-STEP process preserves the most direct signal path from the source to the groove in LP Record.

The Sonic Benefits of the 1-STEP Process: For serious listeners and collectors, the sonic differences are not just subtle-they're transformative.

1. Greater Clarity and Detail
With fewer mechanical transfers, there’s less signal degradation. The result?
Richer textures
More lifelike vocals
Cleaner highs and deeper lows

2. Lower Surface Noise
The 1STEP process results in quieter backgrounds, allowing instruments to bloom naturally. You’ll hear subtle ambience and micro-details that often get lost in standard pressings.

3. Superior Groove Fidelity
Because the lacquer feeds directly into the pressing process, there’s less groove distortion, especially toward the inner grooves where quality can often diminish.

4. Enhanced Dynamics
Expect wider dynamic range, softer pianissimos, more explosive crescendos, and the kind of “in-the-room” presence audiophiles crave.

The One-Step process is not designed for mass production. Since the stamper comes directly from the lacquer, there’s a limit to how many records can be pressed before quality begins to degrade. Once the stamper wears out, that’s it. No reissues. No represses. That scarcity, combined with unmatched sound, makes 1STEP vinyl highly collectable.

The One-Step LP Record releases are not just albums-they’re artifacts of musical excellence.
