Tyner was already one of jazz’s defining pianists, but this recording shows that even in his later career he still had plenty to say. His unmistakable harmonic power, rhythmic drive and muscular touch remain fully present, while Moffett and Foster give the music energy, freedom and depth.
The recording itself has that warm, natural and inviting character often associated with excellent European analogue productions. Rather than sounding overly polished or artificial, it places the listener close to the atmosphere of the live event.
