In the 1970s, the Swedish label Proprius produced a whole series of extremely realistic-sounding music recordings that are still praised by audiophiles today for their outstanding sound quality. Laudate II, released in 1981, is the second recording for Proprius by the Uppsala Academy Chamber Choir and the Drottningholms Barockensemble under the direction of conductor Anders Eby. It features seven pieces from the Düben Collection, the largest private collection of 17th- and 18th-century compositions, which today belongs to the Uppsala University Library.

What at first glance appears to be a niche product for musicologists was one of the label's greatest commercial successes. The impeccable technical execution of the recording, combined with accessible baroque music played on period instruments, guarantees 45 minutes of listening pleasure.
