The music of John Williams has given cinema some of its most unforgettable moments. Under the direction of Francis Choinière, the Orchestre FILMharmonique brings themes from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Jaws and Schindler’s List to life in a live symphonic performance.

Recorded at La Maison symphonique in Montréal, the album was captured in DXD using a minimalist arrangement of vintage Neumann M50 microphones. René Laflamme mastered the recording for 2xHD on Nagra equipment. The approach gives the orchestra and the hall’s natural acoustics room to shape the sound, from quiet passages to full orchestral crescendos.

John Williams has composed the sound of adventure, wonder, suspense and heartbreak for generations of filmgoers. A Tribute to John Williams brings some of his most celebrated themes into the concert hall, performed live by the Orchestre FILMharmonique under the direction of Francis Choinière.

Across four sides of vinyl, the programme travels from the triumphant Raiders March and the soaring theme from Jurassic Park to the magic of Harry Potter. The tender violin melody from Schindler’s List offers a moment of reflection before the orchestra returns to the excitement of E.T., the menace of Jaws and the grandeur of Star Wars.

Recorded live at La Maison symphonique in Montréal, the performance was captured in DXD using a minimalist arrangement of vintage Neumann M50 microphones. This approach places the orchestra within the natural acoustics of the hall, preserving the scale of the ensemble, the space between instruments and the energy of the occasion. René Laflamme mastered the recording for 2xHD using Nagra equipment.

Presented as a deluxe, 180g gatefold double album cut at 45 RPM, this edition gives Williams’s richly orchestrated music four sides on which to unfold.
