Starting August 29, 2025, the United States government is changing its import rules. Physical music products like CDs, vinyl records, and cassettes are currently exempt from new U.S. import duties because they are classified as "informational materials". However, digital music is not subject to tariffs, and the exemption for informational materials could change in the future, though it has remained in place despite recent tariff changes.
Music Media (No USA Tariffs) = Reel Tape, LP Records, Crystal Disc CDs, UHQCDs, CDs, and Audio Cassettes are classified as “informational media” and remain duty-free. Physical formats are exempt: Physical media like CDs, vinyl, and cassettes are specifically classified as "informational materials" by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and are currently exempt from new tariffs. If your order only contains these physical music formats, no customs duties apply.
What this means for you: Music-only orders (Reel Tapes, LP records, CDs, cassette tapes) → No customs duties. If you’re ordering music on physical formats, your order remains duty-free.
