An MQA-CD is a specialised high-resolution audio disc that uses Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology to store studio-quality sound within a standard CD format. These discs are backwards compatible, meaning they can be played on any standard CD player at normal 16-bit/44.1kHz quality. MQA-CDs use a process called "music origami" to fold high-frequency data into the "noise floor" of a standard CD's 16-bit/44.1kHz container. |
