STS Digital is one of Europe’s established specialist audiophile recording and music-production studios, with a philosophy firmly rooted in natural sound, musical realism and the preservation of dynamics.
Wherever possible, STS Digital continues to work with master analogue tape, using the medium for its natural musical character, dynamic freedom and tonal richness. Over many years, the studio has also developed its own proprietary MW Coding Process, created to extract the maximum musical information from studio masters and reproduce it as faithfully as possible on Compact Disc.
WHO SAID CD WAS DEAD?
Certainly not STS Digital.
At its best, Compact Disc remains capable of exceptional sound quality when the recording, mastering and production process is handled with care.

WHAT STS DIGITAL LOOKS FOR IN A GREAT RECORDING
1. Natural warmth
Acoustic instruments possess their own tonal warmth and body. STS Digital aims to retain these qualities rather than allowing the recording chain to make the sound thin, hard or artificial.
2. Realistic spatial placement
A convincing recording should allow the listener to recognise where individual musicians are positioned within the original acoustic space.
3. Phase integrity
Both electrical and acoustic phase relationships are treated as fundamental. This includes careful attention to cabling, signal paths and, importantly, correct microphone positioning.
4. Recording symmetry
Microphones are positioned to achieve a balanced division of information between the left and right channels, helping preserve a natural and coherent stereo image.
5. Transparency without harshness
Clarity does not have to mean brightness. STS Digital aims for a transparent, open and detailed presentation while retaining smooth tonal character and a convincing sense of three-dimensional space.
