Saint Mic album by Scottie Wright on Crystal Disc CD. Extremely impressive imaging, better dynamic, and much cleaner sound Jazz vocalist B.B. de Veaux (Scotty Wright) is joined by pianist Bob Swaski for this audiophile recording. Selections include covers of music by The Carpenters, Simon & Garfunkel, Nat King Cole and daughter Natalie Cole, Elvis Presley, and more!

Scotty Wright's style is influenced by the great masters of jazz singing and is characterized by warmth and harmonic sophistication. The Californian singer, pianist and songwriter, who has been a fixture on the jazz scene in his home country for over 30 years, presents classics from jazz, pop and rock on "Saint Mic". With his relaxed interpretations of songs by Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, Simon & Garfunkel, The Carpenters and Roberta Flack, Wright lets the listener delve deep into the entire spectrum of jazz singing. He is accompanied by the singer Be Be De Vovex and Bob Swaski on the piano.

For many years, rumours have been circulating in the media about incredibly expensive special CDs from Japan. These are crystal discs, sometimes referred to here as glass CDs. These special productions do not involve the moulding of hot polycarbonate with a press stamp, but rather a highly precisely ground glass disc that is coated with pits and lands and then gold-plated. Unfortunately, the production can only be done by hand and takes a long time.

What is Crystal Disc?

Crystal disc, Compact Disc using glass substrate, is made to realize the sound quality which is 'equivalent' to the master sound source. For this purpose, Crystal disc is fabricated by Laser Disc technology cultivated over many years with using the best selected materials.

• The use of glass substrate instead of conventional polycarbonate substrate. As the reflective layer, gold is adopted in exchange for conventional aluminium.
• For pit transcription, Photo Polymerization process (2P process) using a metal stamper is adopted. This process makes pit transcription highly precise compared with the conventional injection moulding process. The technology of 2P process was cultivated by our production of test discs for calibrating industrial optimal pick up heads.
• Surface flatness of glass substrate is much superior to the conventional CD. Glass substrate is hardly influenced by the variation of temperature and humidity. Furthermore, the absence of birefringence coming from the optical uniformity of glass substrate realized signal with extremely low noise and low jitter.

Crystal Disc CD – Special Order, Pre-Order & Order-on-Demand Terms and Conditions

1. Special Order Product

Crystal Disc CD is classified as a Special Order item.

A Special Order item is a product that The Sound of Tape does not normally hold in physical stock and which is ordered from the manufacturer, record label, distributor or authorised supplier specifically in response to customer demand.

Crystal Disc CDs are therefore not standard shelf-stock products available for immediate dispatch.

2. Manufactured on Demand

Crystal Disc CDs are specialist physical products which may be manufactured only after sufficient customer pre-orders or production requirements have been confirmed.

Production may take place in small or limited manufacturing batches specifically for customers who have placed advance orders.

Customers purchasing a Crystal Disc CD should therefore understand that their order may be placed onto a production or waiting list until manufacturing is scheduled and completed.

3. Pre-Order Status

A Crystal Disc CD offered as a pre-order may:

● not yet have been manufactured;
● not yet have been released;
● be awaiting confirmation of a manufacturing schedule;
● be awaiting sufficient customer demand for a production batch;
● be manufactured only after orders have been received; or
● have a provisional release or delivery date which may subsequently change.

Placing an order reserves the customer’s requirement for the product but does not guarantee an immediate production or dispatch date.

4. Estimated Release Dates

Where the manufacturer, label or supplier provides a projected release date, The Sound of Tape will normally include this information within the relevant product description where reasonably possible.

Any projected release, manufacturing or availability date is an estimate only and may be changed, postponed or rescheduled by the manufacturer, label or supplier.

Such dates should not be treated as guaranteed dispatch or delivery dates.

5. TBA – To Be Announced

Some Crystal Disc CD products may be listed with a release date stated as TBA – To Be Announced.

This means that a confirmed manufacturing or release date has not yet been provided.

Customers purchasing a TBA product acknowledge that the waiting period is uncertain at the time the order is placed.

6. Potential Waiting Period

Because Crystal Disc CDs are specialist, limited-production and/or manufactured-on-demand products, the period between the original announcement, customer order, manufacture and final release can vary considerably.

Depending upon the manufacturer and production programme, an Order-on-Demand product may become available within weeks or months, and in exceptional circumstances the production or release timetable may extend significantly longer.

The Sound of Tape cannot guarantee a particular manufacturing date where this remains under the control of the manufacturer, label or supplier.

7. Separate Products Ordered Together

Where an order contains a Crystal Disc CD together with other products, availability of the Crystal Disc CD may affect the dispatch timing of the complete order unless the products are arranged for separate shipment.

8. Customer Acceptance

By placing an order for a Crystal Disc CD identified as a Special Order, Pre-Order, Order-on-Demand or TBA product, the customer confirms that they understand and accept:

● the product may not currently exist as finished physical stock;
● the product may be manufactured specifically in response to customer orders;
● production may take place only in small batches;
● a waiting list may apply;
● any stated release date may be provisional and subject to change;
● manufacturing and availability are controlled by the relevant manufacturer, record label or supplier; and
● the product may not be available for immediate dispatch.

9. Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or restrict any consumer rights which cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable UK consumer protection legislation.

Crystal Disc CD is a specialist audiophile product and should be purchased on the understanding that it is generally an advance-order product rather than a conventional shelf-stock item.
