Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli - Piano Recital released by Swiss fever brand Triston Masters, featuring Michelangeli's performance at Radio Bern, Switzerland on November 2, 1972.
| Swiss Broadcast Edition Volume 11. 180 Gram Pressing Vinyl |
The album includes works by Schumann, Grigg and Scalardy. Not only is Michelangeli’s extremely rare complete recording of Schumann, but also a paradoxical document of how perfectionists face improvisation. Triston Masters, master Jürg Schopper has given this lost recording a new life on this vinyl record. This never-released album, limited to 300 vinyl records worldwide, each with handwritten numbers, is another collection of classical fever.
Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (1920 - 1995), the Italian pianist known as one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, is known for his extreme perfectionism, usually carrying his Steinway Model C and D piano when it comes to music, along with a tuner. Michelangeli has been called by critics and fans the iceberg or sound architect of the piano world. His life was full of conflicts, career public concerts were only a few hundred, and more were cancelled than performed. He would cancel a concert outright because he was sitting on a piano, in a concert hall, and his physical or mental state was not ideal. Michelangeli left a handful of commercial recordings, but each one was held as the holy grail of the track. His control over the recording process is almost demanding. In addition, Michelangeli rarely gives interviews and is reluctant to reveal his private life, allowing art to completely replace personality as the public focus.

It is a hand-numbered limited edition of 300 copies |
This Michelangeli recorded live at Radio Bern, Switzerland in 19723 by recording engineers Hanus Slivera and Peter Bahren using the Studer C37 vacuum tube recorder, but never officially released the record, and the mastering fell asleep for more than 50 years. It was discovered in 2025, by Jürg Schopper, master of Triston Master Recordings. This vinyl record was 100% produced without any digital technology or electronic effects. Whether it was mastering, engraving, or pressing, it was sloppy. It was made by version engineer Simon Kummer using the Studer C37 open reel-to-reel recorder with Neumann VMS-70.
This LP record stamper was made by British Stamper Disc Ltd. and then pressed 331 ⁄3 to 180g high-quality vinyl by the famous Swiss vinyl manufacturer MEK Vinyl GmbH. Throughout the manufacturing process Jürg Schopper went to great lengths to offer fever fans the best sound quality. Audition found that the sound quality is the same as Triston's dark brain record, reaching extremely high levels. The background is quiet, a collection of master straps for over 50 years. After clever post-treatment, the noise control has excellent performance, and the bottom noise is quite slight. The sound of the piano is transparent, the touch is clear, and the rest is endless. In addition, the sense of space is shown as if the listener is in the recording scene to enjoy Michelangeli's wonderful performance.
