In the Moment is a 2022 studio album by composer and keyboardist Miguel Kertsman, recorded in collaboration with drummer Ernie Adams. Released on October 28, 2022, under Big Round Records, the album is characterized by its "genre-smashing" approach, blending jazz-rock fusion, progressive rock, and Brazilian influences.
The album features first-take, live-to-two-track recordings with little to no rehearsal. Incredibly, Kertsman and Adams had never played together before the recording session.
Kertsman used a vintage analog keyboard setup and bass pedals to create a raw, spontaneous sound. The recordings used minimalist microphone techniques to capture the natural acoustics of the space. The music defies strict labeling, incorporating elements of avant-garde jazz, world music, and electronic textures.

Brazilian-American Miguel Kertsman has wide musical interests and skills. Trained at Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory, and the Julliard School, his versatility encompasses audio engineering, production, and composition in classical orchestral and chamber formats, musical theatre and songs, jazz, rock, pop, and interactive games. Born in Recife, Brazil, Brazilian dance forms and traditions are not far away in his diverse scores.
