Filmed at the BBC Television Theatre in Shepherd's Bush, London, for the television programme Sounds for Saturday, the session features a 45-year-old Berry at the absolute peak of his showmanship and musical maturity.

Born in 1926, universally recognised as the “Father of Rock and Roll,” Berry revolutionised modern music with his fusion of rhythm and blues, country guitar riffs, and a captivating stage presence. His style defined the sound of 1950s rock and inspired generations of artists, from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Springsteen.

Charles Edward Anderson Berry was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter who was one of the pioneers of rock and roll.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll includes three of Berry's: "Johnny B. Goode", "Maybellene", and "Rock and Roll Music". Berry's "Johnny B. Goode" is the only rock-and-roll song included on the Voyager Golden Record.
